Lakes & Rivers
Fancy a bit of fun on the water? Murrindindi offers water adventurers a variety of conditions suited to canoeing and kayaking. Skilled users can enjoy the sparkling waters of the Goulburn River from as far east as the Eildon Pondage right through the shire to Seymour and beyond. Canoeists, kayakers and rafters alike regularly paddle over the popular rapids between the Pondage and Blue Gums near Eildon (seasonal). Downstream the river passes through Thornton, Acheron, near to Alexandra, Molesworth, near to Yea, Kerrisdale, Trawool, near to Tallarook, Seymour then beyond. Check river levels as they vary according to the amount of water released from the lake. Beginners might prefer the calmer waters of the picturesque Lake Eildon for a splash and paddle.
